Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Overrule, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.
These terms apply to all users of Overrule, including users during early access.
Description of the Service
Overrule is a web application that allows you to view, search, organize, and manage your Microsoft Outlook inbox rules via the Microsoft Graph API. It provides an observability and management layer on top of your existing Outlook configuration.
Overrule is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Graph are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
Eligibility and Account Responsibilities
To use Overrule, you must have a valid Microsoft 365 account with access to Outlook inbox rules.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Microsoft account and any sessions you initiate through Overrule.
- You may not create multiple accounts or share accounts with others.
- You are responsible for all actions taken through your account, including any changes made to your Outlook rules.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Overrule only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of Overrule.
- Abuse or circumvent rate limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms.
- Use Overrule to perform bulk modifications to your Outlook rules in ways that violate Microsoft's terms of service or acceptable use policies.
- Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service or its infrastructure.
Microsoft Account Integration
Overrule accesses your Outlook mailbox data — including inbox rules and folder names — via the Microsoft Graph API, using only the permissions you explicitly grant during sign-in.
You may revoke Overrule's access to your Microsoft account at any time through your Microsoft account settings at myapps.microsoft.com. Revoking access will prevent Overrule from functioning.
Overrule is not responsible for the availability, reliability, or behavior of Microsoft's services, including the Microsoft Graph API or Microsoft 365.
Service Availability
Overrule is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime or availability, particularly during early access.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes in advance.
Intellectual Property
Overrule, including its design, code, and features, is our intellectual property and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.
Your rule data, annotations, and groups remain yours. We claim no ownership over any content retrieved from your Microsoft mailbox or any organizational data you create within Overrule.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Overrule at any time if you violate these terms or engage in behavior that we determine to be harmful to the service or other users.
You may stop using Overrule at any time. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, please contact us using the information in the Contact section below.
Disclaimers
The service is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Any changes made to your Outlook rules through Overrule are your responsibility to review before applying. Overrule surfaces information to help you make informed decisions, but it does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of conflict detection or rule analysis. We are not liable for unintended modifications to your Outlook rules.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Overrule and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amounts you have paid to Overrule in the twelve months preceding the claim, or zero dollars ($0) if you have been using the service during a free access period.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Overrule after updated terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly, such as by displaying a notice within the application.
